Pluribus designed a new daycare and early childhood education center for Oxford Academy in Overland Park. Working closely with the client, the design aesthetics were strongly influenced with their input, both in color and materiality. Functionality, durable and low maintenance, energy efficient, student safety and security, and flexibility of space were qualities desired to mimize management of the building and to allow client’s energy to focus on the actities and life of the students and staff inside.

Some of the features include a kitchen for meal preparation, staff work areas, reception area, office, and a high wind shelter area that included the infant rooms. The classrooms are configured for easy supervision and transitions from inside to outside. Each classroom has direct access to the outdoors, with a canopy around the perimeter, providing protection from rain and the sun.
