Seaton Hall South Entry Stair Renovation, Phase 2

Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS

The main stairs at Seaton Hall were failing due to water infiltration, settlement, and severe degradation of stone and concrete. Due to the configuration of the stairs, with complex terraces, lower level porticos, and exterior elevated structural slabs, careful treatment was given to address the numerous conditions subjected to weather elements. New membranes and weeps within the assemblies prevent water penetration into structural elements and provide long term stability for the stone and concrete. Stairs were brought up to code standards, addressing rise/run and handrails. Numerous masonry repairs and stone replacements were necessary to provide a cohesive finished product.
