Upper School Science Labs Annex

Leawood, KS

Pluribus designed new science classrooms for biology, chemistry, and general sciences, such as physics, for the Upper School at the Leawood campus. The new science labs are future-focused with flexibility, creating lab experiences for their students on par with those they will find in the higher education environments they aspire to. A complete renovation of an existing strip mall next to their recently opened IDEA Space (also by Pluribus) brings a full range of STEAM-powered offerings to The Barstow School and the greater Kansas City area. Students engage in hands-on experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math through after-school programs, summer camps, school, and non-profit partnerships.

The project also includes a new trash enclosure and green space along the residential-facing side of the property, providing a welcoming change from asphalt and concrete. Classrooms provide direct access to the green space for outdoor projects and access to nature. A future greenhouse location was also designed as a complement to the science lab curriculum.
